Singing lessons in Keynsham; tuition offered in musical theatre, classical and pop styles
My teaching style is always specific toward the individual, though always built around strong, classically-informed technique and understanding. With these foundations in place we can move into any genres of singing (musical theatre, folk, blues), always referring back to our classical training and helping us to become flexible yet consistent singers.
For younger singers I'm always aware of picking music which suits their current interests (so "How Far I'll Go" from Moana is a current favourite!). We'll also focus on performance techniques and basic stagecraft to better complement their singing.
For those interested in sitting exams I generally use the ABRSM syllabus and grading structure though am also happy to use Trinity.
- Musical Director for Billboard Junior Theatre Company (Little Shop of Horrors, Alice In Wonderland Jr) and Concept Players (Evita, Shout!)
- Tenor for BBC National Chorus of Wales
- Soloist for various chamber operas
- Session vocalist for Maddie Jones and singer in band Albatross Archive
Having grown up performing in church and cathedral choirs, singing has been a huge part of my musical life. While I tend to work more as a choral conductor and musical director for various musical theatre ensembles, I have previously been a member of the BBC National Chorus of Wales, choral scholar with Metropolitan Cathedral of St David, Cardiff, and have sung in various chamber choirs and barbershop quartets.
